SummaryThe Process Engineer role is responsible for evaluating processes and configuring manufacturing systems to improve operating capability and sustainability while maintaining all applicable safety and reliability standards; to develop best practices within the production process; to research and propose new equipment or equipment modifications.
Responsibilities Work closely with production and support personnel to develop and optimize process settings and document as Standard Operating procedures (SOP).
Utilize engineering principles and data analysis to reduce variation in manufacturing processes, thereby improving operating efficiency in various parameters - rates, yields, downtime, cost, etc.
Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.
Develop innovative solutions; research and recommend new manufacturing technology.
Assist in training personnel in proper and safe operation of equipment.
Formulate hypothesis and recommend tests to prove theories.
Work with the technical department to document product set points and process settings.
Assist Technical department with line trials.
Complete project work as assigned; write capital project scopes, work with equipment designers and manufacturers, obtain bids, etc.
Skills and Qualifications Problem Solving - methodically work to establish root cause of process variation Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing - Standardized Work, 5S, TPM, etc.
Background in statistical process controls.
Excellent communication skills - professional and effective interaction across all levels of personnel with the organization.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite, PLC platforms, HMI, etc.
Self-motivated with drive to accomplish various tasks under minimal supervision.
Flexibility to work off shift to accommodate Production support needs.
Education/
Experience:
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
Three to Five years' experience as a process engineer, preferably in continuous or semi continuous processing industry.
