The Mechanical Engineer role is a largely strategic position with a split focus on improving the long-term reliability of the site, and ensuring proper mechanical engineering rigor is being followed by the site. The primary focus is on providing technical knowledge and development to the asset teams and engineers for their fixed and rotating equipment skills. This role will support evaluation of the equipment reliability challenges facing the assets and recommend improvements and changes to continually improve the reliability and availability of the equipment within the assets. This role will work with Process Area Team (PAT) and maintenance craft members to provide technical support during equipment failures, including leading Root Cause Failure Analyses, troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, and providing technical support and recommendations to address challenges affecting the asset. It's crucial to have a good working relationship with unit operations and mechanical craft to ensure the best possible coverage for all equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES Act as a Mechanical and Fixed Equipment Owner's Engineer Select and approve specifications used for all new mechanical/fixed equipment installations Provide interpretation support for the site Engineering Practices Evaluate specification exception requests for potential deviation or specification update Verify Vendor manufacturing designs, drawings, and/or specifications to ensure compliance with site engineering standards as required. Act as a Mechanical Project Engineer on assigned Capital Projects Perform all owner's engineer responsibilities for machinery and fixed equipment portions of assigned capital projects per site policy, to include approval of all Issue for construction drawings. Develop or evaluate necessary mechanical designs in support of assigned projects Develop and/or approve scope, specification sheets, and procurement requirements needed for assigned projects. Act as a Strategic Reliability Engineer for the Site Support reliability and data analysis efforts of plant operating unit teams to meet their reliability improvement goals Identify and develop new cross-site programs for reliability and precision maintenance Write and/or maintain Equipment Lifecycle Documents and Reliability Strategies in the appropriate equipment files Provide input on upcoming major capital expenditure requirements for equipment to meet life cycle requirements to the capital budgeting team during annual budgeting exercises Act as a Fixed/Rotating Equipment Maintenance Engineer Drive failure analysis investigation and thinking, and precision maintenance process with plant operating teams and the maintenance organization for all repair work conducted. Provide scope support to critical/business interrupting equipment failure repair efforts Provide scope support during operating unit outage planning processes, and for discovery work found during unit outages. Support operating teams and maintenance organization in finding and working with acceptable mechanical and fixed equipment repair vendors. Act as a Mechanical Engineering Mentor for Junior Engineers Provide mechanical engineering training to asset engineers, mechanics, planners, and technicians as required Review and approve mechanical designs and repair plans of asset engineers and mechanical/fixed equipment planners. Participate in or lead periodic engineering forums with site mechanical engineers. Meet all Administrative/Safety Requirements as a Member of the Reliability Technical Group Comply with and enforce the INEOS Group Life Saving Rules, and 20 Process/Behavioral Safety Principles, and Behavioral Safety Auditing. Participate in or lead all required Reliability Technical Group Team meetings. Skills & Knowledge Required Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in a mechanical engineering discipline 10 year's engineering experience in a Petrochemical manufacturing environment Experience in vessel, piping, and rotating equipment Selection, Installation, Commissioning, Operations, Repair. Knowledge of reliability processes (Reliability Analysis, Failure Analysis). Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, and API Codes, Standards and Recommended Practices. Skills/Competencies Demonstrated successful verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of audiences, to include hourly employees, fellow engineers, and management. Computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software Ability to work efficiently in a multi-disciplined, cross-functional environment and consistently produce results with minimal supervision. Ability to work with diverse groups in sometimes time-compressed situations to gain consensus and a clear path forward required. Attention to detail and driven to maintain sound compliance system adherence. Defines personal success in terms of the whole team Proven track record on performance bias and delivery. Ability to extract data sets, apply appropriate analytical tools and provide analysis of trends.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Mechanical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
